How Studio AI Works

Studio AI works in two contexts:

Product Extension

Opened from a product page in BigCommerce. Edit images, create lifestyle photos, add variations, and enhance listing copy for a specific product.

App Dashboard

Opened from the Apps menu. Configure store-wide AI settings, manage personas, run the setup wizard, and view usage analytics.

Feature Guide

Edit Image

Enhance, restyle, or modify product photos using AI. Select a source image, describe changes, and preview before saving. Supports iterative refinement.

Lifestyle Images

Generate contextual lifestyle photos showing your product in real-world settings. Choose a source image, describe the scene, and generate multiple options at once.

Variations

Create product color and style variants with AI-generated images. Add Variation creates one at a time; Batch Variation generates multiple variants from a list. Each variant gets its own image, option value, and SKU.

Enhance Data

Optimize product titles, descriptions, SEO fields, and meta data using AI. Supports buyer persona targeting, keyword research, and SEO scoring. Preview changes in a before/after diff with one-click rollback.

Settings Wizard

Let AI analyze your store and configure all guidance settings automatically. Reviews personas, SEO, copywriting, lifestyle, and edit image settings. You can accept, refine, or skip each recommendation.

When to Use Enhance Data

Best for:

Products with plain text or basic descriptions
Product titles that need SEO optimization
Meta descriptions and page titles
Adding and improving search keywords
Products with placeholder or thin content

Use with caution when:

Your description has embedded product images
You use a custom HTML template across products
Your description includes videos, size charts, or comparison tables
You have third-party widget code in the description

Tip: You can enhance just the title, meta, and keyword fields while leaving your custom description untouched. Select only the fields you want AI to improve. AI will add to your existing keywords, never remove them.

Settings Impact

Settings apply to ALL future AI generations across all products. When you configure copywriting tone, SEO rules, or image style defaults, every product you edit will use those settings. Each setting screen manages one aspect of your store-wide AI behavior.

Credits & Limits

Each AI generation (image edit, lifestyle photo, variation, text enhancement, keyword research, alt text) costs 1 credit.

During alpha, every store gets 100 credits per month for free. Credits reset on the 1st of each month.

Rate limits protect against burst usage: image and text generation have per-minute caps. If you hit a limit, wait a few seconds and try again.
